She takes this back to the room in which she and Emily were sleeping, and is soon accompanied by Diana. Sarah visits the site of Emily's murder and finds that the page she hid from Peter Knox - one of the three pages from the the Book of Life - has revealed itself. Matthew simply follows this with the fact that Emily was killed. Both Marcus and Phoebe rebuke him, however, citing that he did not go unchallenged and as a result, Marcus was nearly killed. Shortly after, Matthew turns his anger towards Marcus, citing that as Grand Master of the Knights of Lazarus it was his job to ensure Sept-Tours was safe. Diana remarks that killing him would be too kind and that they must make him pay for taking Emily away from them.
As the de Clermonts gather - accompanied by numerous other allies - Matthew talks about the actions of Peter Knox. Diana remarks that it is good to see him, and Gallowglass makes a joke about waiting over five-centuries to see the two of them again. Meanwhile, Gallowglass returns to Sept-Tours and is greeted by a warm hug from Diana. Matthew remarks that he can hear two heartbeats, and it becomes known that the two of them are expecting twins. The following day, Matthew and Diana sit in their room. They find themselves thrust in the deep end, however, when they are greeted by a dying Emily, who dies in Sarah's arms moments later. Plot ĭiana and Matthew arrive back at Sept-Tours, having travelled back from the past following Diana's completion of her training. When Diana and Matthew learn they are expecting twins, it becomes clear that their family is in danger. Diana mourns the death of her foster mother, Emily Mather, who was murdered by Peter Knox.
